Science Objectives:  As a result of the lesson students will...
1.) Demonstrate their knowledge of land forms and maps in chapter one.
2.) Complete the assessment that demonstrates knowledge of content.

Lesson Overview: Students will take the science assessment.
Evidence of Learning: Complete assessment

Homework: Read pages 18-19  Be able to tell the three types of map projections.

Tuesday, March 4, 2014 F- Day

Pages:  18-19 in The Earth's Changing Surfaces.

Objectives: As a result of the lesson students will...

1.) Distinguish between the three map projections; Mercator, Conic, and Equal Area.
2.) Create their own conic map.

Lesson: Students will learn about the three different types of projections. Distinguish the differences between 2d and 3d mapping. Understand how scientist use these maps to study the earth. Students will create a 3d model of 3d mapping.

Wednesday, March 5, 2014 - A Day

Pages 22-23

Objectives- Students will....

1.)Understand the differences between different types of mapping systems.
2.) Understand how computers use pixels to make models of the earth.

Lesson Overview-  Students will look at pages 14-15 in their text and learn about the history of map making. Students will think -pair share and discuss how maps have changed.  Learn about surveying and how it was connected to map making. Learn about sextants, compasses, and the telescope.   Students will then learn about computer generated maps. Students will then make a picture of an apple using the idea of creating pixels.

Evidence of Learning- Describe the instruments used to make maps. Understand how computers create images of maps and land forms which lend themselves to creating GPS images.

Read 21-23 answer questions 1a, 1b,1c, 2a

Thursday, March 6 , 2014 B Day
