Monday, March 24, 2014 B- Day

Monday Morning Meeting

Follow Monday Morning meeting protocol: Greeting, Morning Buzz, Speaker, Week in Review, Shout-Outs, and Objectives for the week.

Objectives: As a result of the lesson students will.....

1.) Complete a STAR reading assessment to demonstrate their knowledge of reading and reading comprehension.

2.) Use reading strategies to help them gain levels in STAR.

Activity. Students work to complete the STAR test during a class period.  When they have finished taking their STAR test they must pre read the article, Fossils and Earthquakes. Write down the gist and highlight and underline  key words and information .

Evidence of learning: Complete the STAR test.

Homework: Read the Article:  Fossils and Earthquakes

Tuesday, March 25, 2014  C Day

Objectives for the Lesson : As a result of the lesson students will....

1. )Complete a close read of the article titled " Lake of Fire".
2.) Use caption to gain information form a picture.
3.) Use captions to draw conclusions based on information presented in the article.

Activity: Students will get the article lake of fire. As the read the jot down notes about the article after each paragraph.  After they read they will read the questions that need to be answered to demonstrate their reading comprehension .  Use the captions to communicate information that is not presented in the article in text.

Evidence of Learning: Read the article Lake of Fire  answer questions 1-5


Wednesday, March 27, 2014  D- Day
 Objectives:  As a result of the lesson students will.....

1. Reread the article lake of fire and answer comprehension question based on the text.
2.) Support their answers with concrete evidence from the text.


Activity: Students will work together to reread the article and organize the information on a graphic organizer.   Communicate with evidence the answer to questions.

Homework-  Use the text to answer questions 6-11

Thursday, March 28, 2014 E- Day

Shared time with Mrs. Santamore no science due to shared time.

Friday, March 29, 2014 F- Day
Objectives As a result of the lesson students will....

1.) Review Lake of Fire article answers and support answers with evidence.

2.) Close read of The Problem Solvers.

3.) Write the gist of each paragraph for Problem Solvers.

Lesson Overview- Students will review the answers for the article lake of fire. Students will support their answers with evidence from the text and justify why their answer is the correct answer. Students will then preview the article; The Problem Solver  students will discuss the importance of engineering and the process of research and how it connects to solving problems.

Activity: Complete a close read of the article The Problem Solvers and write the gist of each paragraph for Monday.
