SUMMER IS COMING TO AN END

Hello Future STEM Students,

I trust that you have had a wonderful and productive summer filled with fun and games.  I have been very busy this summer preparing for this upcoming year. I am very excited for our curriculum this year. We will be learning about:

Weather and Climate
The Earth's Surface
Earth's Waters
Space
Scientific Method

We will be using a lot of online resources this year and you will be using the internet for everything. Make sure that you have internet access and access to technology.

I am looking forward to seeing all of you on the first day of school on September 4, 2014.

I hope the remainder of your summer is filled with fun and games and relaxation.

Objectives for the Day - Students will...

1.) Present their Agbotics Presentation to Judges.
2.) Demonstrate knowledge of robot design, programming, knowledge of selected crop, marketing pitch to potential buyers.
3.) Share experiences working on project with judges.

Summary: Students will present their work to a panel of experts to pitch their agbot to potential buyers. 

Evidence of Learning: Students will present work.

Tuesday, June 24, 2014   A- Day 

Objectives for the Day - Students will...

Lesson Objectives: As a result of the lesson students will.

1.) Generate a Needs to Know List of potential aspects of their presentations.
2.) Collaborate to plan the presentation for Roboto Manzana
3.) Complete all missions and powerpoints for presentation

Summary: Students work together to prepare for their final presentation on Tuesday, June 24,2014 at 10:30. Students will work on finalizing paper work and all aspects of the mission.  Researchers will present their robot power point to the class and receive feed back on things they need to improve on for the presentation.

Evidence of Learning: Students will work within departments to complete daily tasks. Students will write in Journals the end of corporation time to provide evidence of work.

Student will attend the Lucky Strike Bowling Alley for the end the year celebration.  Students will then go to lunch at the King Wok China Buffet. Students will participate in the STEM end of the year kick ball tournament.

Note: Daily Students will work on writing and testing their code on their individual robots during corportation time and during department times.

Monday, June 2, 2014 C- Day


Field Trip to Clarkson University

Objective for Day : Students will..
1.) Attend a field trip at Clarkson University to get a tour of the different programs offered at Clarkson Univeristy.
2.) Students will tour and get an overview of the robotics program available at Clarkson University.
3.) Students will ask questions and gain insight on the design process from Clarkson Robotics students.

Overview of the Day: Students will attend Clarkson University and receive a tour of the C.A.M.P. building at Clarkson University. Students will then get an overview of the different programs being offered at Clarkson University from First Lego League to High School Level of Robotics. Students will then get a tour of the SPEED programs and learn about the design process.  In addition students will see first hand an actual agbot being constructed at Clarkson. Students will then ask questions to the designers and learn about the different steps needed to create a robot.


Tuesday, June 3, 2014 D-Day

Objective for the Day: Students will....
1.) Work in cooperative groups to start writing the three programs for each of their assigned tasks for their corporations.
2.) Students will produce three mission plans for their tasks.
3.)Students will then learn how to write programming for three motors.

Objective for the Day: Students will....
1.) Work in cooperative groups to start writing the three programs for each of their assigned tasks for their corporations.

ELA Field Test

Students will work for forty minutes to complete a New York State Field Test .
